James E. Petit

My Papa, Jim Petit, loved history. He was fascinated by it. The only books I ever remember him reading were history books. He loved to talk about history, watch documentaries about different historical events and time periods, and did his best to preserve his own history. He spoke about his own life in the context of historical events and saw himself as an active part of history. He had intended to write a document containing the story of his life, which, through his eyes, began before he was even born. He saw his life in a much larger context than just within the years he was alive-he saw the greater picture. He was never able to finish the task of writing down his story, but I hope this little page can be a start as I continue the story now through my own life. His story is my story.
